The suspended police officer involved in an incident with a traffic warden in Port of Spain has been granted $200,000 bail.

PC Nicholson George, a resident of Chase Village, appeared in court last week, facing six charges including assault and obstruction.

He is expected back in court on March 1st, 2023.

A report was made to the Professional Standards Bureau about an incident along Frederick Street last month.

A traffic warden allegedly told the PC that he was not wearing a seatbelt and was talking on his phone, and asked him to pull aside.

However, he failed to comply with these instructions and a video of the ensuing incident went viral on social media.

PC George was arrested on February 2nd and police say he was on suspension from duty at the time of being charged.
