34 women infected with COVID-19 , no adverse effects or deaths


    34 pregnant women have contracted COVID-19 this year however there were no deaths and no babies were adversely affected.

    According to Dr Adesh Sirjusingh, Director at the Directorate of Women’s Health, T&T has been lucky in this regard, as other countries have not been so fortunate.

    Dr Sirjusingh presented the stats during today’s Health Briefing.

    He also assured that while pregnant woman are slightly more at risk for COVID-19, the evidence shows minimal risk for their babies.

    Dr Sirjusingh also reminded that babies should not wear masks since this can lead to suffocation.
