Five men were arrested as police seized over $100,000 worth of marijuana in separate instances in La Romaine.
Around 5:35am yesterday during an anti-crime exercise, officers stopped and searched a silver Toyota Corolla with three male occupants along South Trunk Road.
They found 7.2 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated street value of $72,000.
The three suspects – a 32-year-old and a 24-year-old both of Tunapuna and a 23-year-old of San Juan – were arrested.
A few minutes later during the same exercise, officers stopped and searched a white Nissan AD Wagon with two male occupants.
They found three packets containing 3.2 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated street value of $32,000.
The two suspects – a 22-year-old of Chickland and a 21-year-old of San Fernando – were arrested.
