Cabinet will be approached for an official policy on refugee and asylum status in T&T.
This announcement came from National Security Minister Stuart Young’s at today’s post-cabinet media briefing, as he responded to claims in a newspaper article.
The report, he said, accused government of breaching a court order by deporting refugees and asylum seekers.
Mr Young gave no indication as to what the policy will look like, but insisted that local laws do not cater to these groups.
Mr Young also dismissed the claim that government breached a court order through recent deportations.
Mr Young said the state will continue to do what is needed to protect T&T, especially in the fight against COVID-19.
