“Close to zero” – T&T unlikely to get more Pfizer shots from U.S.

T&T’s chances of getting another tranche of Pfizer vaccines from the U.S. are “close to zero”.

Earlier this year, T&T received 75,000 doses of this vaccine from the U.S. Government.

These are due to expire on June 30th and according to Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, less than half have been used.

To give an idea of recent COVID-19 vaccine uptake, the Minister revealed that a total of 331 doses (inclusive of boosters) were administered across all sites on June 21st.

Meanwhile with the stock of Pfizer vaccines due to expire, questions were raised about shots that will be available as boosters to children between the age of 12 and 18.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram says there will likely be no shots.

The CMO adds however that Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will continue to be available to persons 18-years and older.
