In a month or so, T&T will be able to test for COVID-19 in minutes using antigen testing, according to the CMO.
Dr Roshan Parasram says the tests are scheduled to arrive from PAHO in November – a month into the influenza H1N1 season.
He says the antigen tests will give results from COVID-19 samples in minutes.
Dr Parasram says COVID-19 samples will be a critical part of testing for influenza.
Meanwhile, the influenza vaccination drive starts on Tuesday 29th September 2020 and is available at several facilities across Trinidad.
At risk groups for influenza include:
• Children aged 6 months to 5 years
• Pregnant women
• Adults over 65
• People with chronic medical conditions (such as Diabetes Mellitus)
• People with chronic respiratory illnesses (such as Asthma)
