The T&T Coast Guard has acknowledged the assistance of members of the public in retrieving a person’s body which had been discovered in the vicinity of Saut D’Eau Island on the North Coast of Trinidad.

The TTCG says the operation on October 9th was complex because the location was prone to strong undercurrents that may not necessarily affect smaller vessels but had a considerable effect on the Coast Guard vessel in this operation.

It adds that environmental conditions would have had a greater, and potentially more detrimental, effect on its 50-foot vessel than on smaller vessels in the area.

Despite this, it says the recovery operation was successfully completed and the TTCG has expressed its gratitude and pride in the fact that citizens are still willing to do the right thing when called upon in times of need.
