CoP: 95% police turnout for election; commends exemplary conduct

At least 95% of police officers turned up for duty during the 2020 General Election, prompting commendation from their Commissioner.

Top Cop Gary Griffith says all officers showcased exemplary and professional conduct.

He adds that while the turnout could have been higher, some officers had tested positive for COVID-19 while others were in quarantine.

Mr Griffith says the TTPS has been functioning non-stop over the last nine months, starting with the 2019 Local Government Election.

He reports that there are 64 murders fewer in 2020 so far compared to the same period last year, while crime overall decreased by 25%.
