Persons with derelict vehicles lying on the roadway or in public spaces in Tobago are being advised to remove them immediately, or they will be towed away.
A drive has begun to enhance Tobago’s environmental protection and tourism thrusts, and Tobagonians are being asked to identify such vehicles.
The THA says it is an offence to abandon derelict vehicles, and official notice will be given to offenders to deal with the issue themselves.
However, if the law is breached, persons can be fined $1,000 and $200 per day for every day the vehicle is not removed after conviction.
And if the vehicle is removed at the local authority’s expense, the costs incurred for this will be recovered from the person in default.
