Doctor killed in kidnapping attempt, one suspect remains at large


    Police are searching for a 4th suspect involved in this morning’s incident in which a doctor was killed during a kidnapping attempt in South Trinidad.

    According to the TTPS, the man escaped after the vehicle driven by the suspects crashed along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Macaulay, during a high-speed chase with police.

    37-year-old Dr. Prem Vijay Naidoo and 39-year-old Dr. Rudradeva Sharma were approached by the four suspects around 11:58pm last night, as they sat in a vehicle at Rushworth Street Extension, San Fernando.

    The men relieved the victims of cash and valuables before tying them up, placing them in the trunk of the vehicle and driving away.

    A report was made to the police and officers subsequently observed the vehicle heading north along the highway, leading to a chase.

    Dr. Sharma was killed in the accident, while Dr. Naidoo and three of the suspects sustained injuries and are being treated at hospital.

    A Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
