Anushka Sharma to portray India cricket legend in “Chakda Xpress”


Anushka Sharma will portray former India cricket captain Jhulan Goswami in a biopic titled “Chakda Xpress.”

Netflix has released a teaser for the film which is inspired by the life of one of India’s greatest cricketers.

Goswami, born in Bengal, played 12 Tests, 192 ODIs and 68 T20Is for India between 2002 and 2021, taking 44, 240 and 56 wickets respectively.

Her tremendous career is still going as she’s been selected to play in the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand in March and April.

Sharing the teaser on social media, Sharma said, “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket.”

Netflix, when it uploaded the teaser on January 5th, said the movie is “filming soon.”
