Dame Diana Rigg dies at age 82

Dame Diana Rigg has died at the age of 82.

Her daughter, actor Rachael Stirling, said she died of cancer, after being diagnosed in March.

A statement from Ms Stirling reads: “My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family. I will miss her beyond words. She spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession.”

Dame Diana was well known for her recent role as Olenna Tyrell in “Game of Thrones”,

She also played Emma Peel in the British 1960s TV series “The Avengers” and was the only woman to become Mrs James Bond after her character married the famous spy in 1969’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

The official James Bond Twitter account has since paid tribute, along with the official Twitter for Game of Thrones.
