Ghana’s President lays wreath, talks “Year of Return”

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has spoken about his country’s “Year of Return” during his official State visit to T&T.

Mr Akufo-Addo addressed members of the media during a media conference called by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley this afternoon.

The “Year of Return” is a landmark spiritual and birth-right journey inviting the African Disaspora to mark the start of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade 400 years ago.

Dr Rowley meanwhile says the topic of Venezuela was discussed.

Meanwhile the visiting President today paid tribute to members of the Commonwealth armed forces who died in World Wars I & II.

The event was held at Memorial Park.

The wreath-laying is traditionally done on Remembrance Day; however, it is also done by all visiting Heads of State.

Both Trinidad and Tobago and Ghana are members of the Commonwealth.
