Government responds to criticism over requests for airtime

Government denies that its requests for airtime on local TV and radio stations have been unconstitutional.

A release from the Communications Ministry today directly responded to a claim by T&T Publishers and Broadcasters Association President Kiran Maharaj.

She is quoted by the Newsday as saying Government’s requests are constant, ongoing and unconstitutional.

However, the Ministry claims that prior to the Prime Minister’s interview earlier this month, the last request for air time was made in November 2019.

Minister Donna Cox says she is willing to meet with the Media Association T&T and the TTPBA to clear up any misconceptions.
