Govt orders 160,000 rapid antigen test kits for COVID-19 fight


    The Health Ministry has ordered 160,000 rapid antigen test kits, at a cost of US$960,000.

    During today’s media briefing, Minister Terrence Deyalsingh referred to these kits as “a game changer” since they are rapid tests with a high accuracy rate.

    Once they arrive, they will be deployed immediately.

    Mr Deyalsingh explained how the test work, adding that they will be used to help screen persons.

    The kits are being acquired through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
