Griffith sends apology to PM for Bayside statement

An official apology has been sent to the Prime Minister by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith for a statement made earlier this month.

Dr Keith Rowley first made a public appeal on September 12th urging police to reprimand anyone who breaches COVID-19 regulations after persons were warned about congregating at Bayside Towers, Cocorite.

The next day, Mr Griffith issued a media release claiming that the PM’s suggestion could see police breaching persons’ constitutional rights –he was eventually invited to a meeting with Dr Rowley.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing today, just over two weeks later, the Top Cop notes that he has apologized.
