Helicopter crashes during search for prison escapees

A National Security Helicopter searching for the eight prison escapees has crashed at Windy Hill in Arouca.

According to Prisons Commissioner Gerard Wilson, the three occupants on board the aircraft are unhurt.

However, he states that the pilot was forced to make a hard landing after the helicopter experienced technical difficulties.

The manhunt though, continues with the Prisons Commissioner saying he believes these men are armed and dangerous.

7 of the 8 escapees have been charged for murder, including one for the murder of a prison officer some time ago.

The inmates were unaccounted for during roll call around 6am today at the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca.
