Finance Minister Colm Imbert is assuring CEPEP workers will get their salary increase, adding that worker numbers or working hours will not be reduced.
He was responding to a newspaper article today which quoted a Senior UWI Lecturer/Analyst as making claims that the increase in CEPEP workers’ salaries was a trick, since there was a reduced overall allocation for CEPEP in the budget.
The analyst reportedly claimed that due to this reduced figure, either the number of hours worked, or the number of workers will be reduced.
But, Mr. Imbert says this is wrong, and irresponsible for such statements to be made without any facts.
He says budgetary allocations for all projects are routinely revised during the year and supplemented where required.
