Jamaican aircraft makes emergency landing in Guyana; one Trinidadian on board

A Jamaican aircraft ran off the airstrip at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana this morning.

The Boeing 757-200 plane was destined for Toronto Canada with 118 passengers on board.

Several persons have been rushed to the hospital, badly injured.

Reports indicate that after 20 minutes in the air, the pilot “turned back” after experiencing “mechanical problems”.

Upon landing, the brakes reportedly failed.

A Guyanese journalist meanwhile has confirmed that one Trinidadian was on board the flight.
