The second local sailing of the Jean de la Valette ferry was cancelled this afternoon due to a technical issue.
The vessel undertook its maiden sailing on the sea bridge this morning, leaving Scarborough at 6:57am bound for Port of Spain.
That voyage was 27 minutes late, after an medical emergency on board delayed departure.
The vessel was then scheduled to sail from POS to Scarborough at 4pm.
Shortly after departure however, NIDCO says it was stopped to allow preliminary checks after an alert was seen on the bridge as it approached the northern coast of Trinidad.
Passengers were instead accommodated on the T&T Spirit.
