Kidnap suspect released from hospital


    The second suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Dr Rudradeva Sharma has been released from hospital.

    According to the Trinidad Express, the 17 year old suspect was in a back brace and wheelchair when he was discharged from hospital into his mother’s care.

    The article also says he was allowed to return to his home at Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, to continue his recovery.

    Doctors believe he suffered partial paralysis as a result of the accident in which led to the death of one of his accomplices and Dr Sharma.

    He is expected to be interviewed by police at a later date.

    Dr Sharma and his colleague Dr Prem Vijay Naidoo were hijacked while at Rushworth Street Extension, San Fernando just before midnight on January 14th.

    They were bundled into the trunk of the SUV, which crashed a short while later along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Macaulay.

    Dr Sharma died in the crash while one of the three suspects, 19 year old Akeem Marine, died in the hospital the following day.

    The third suspect, 19 year old Antonio Francois has already appeared in court charged with the murders of Dr Sharma and Marine, among other offences.
