This morning saw another explosive event at St Vincent’s La Soufrière volcano.

This was confirmed by the country’s National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and follows a period of relative quiet.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre meanwhile reminded that explosions can happen without warning during the ongoing eruption.

It adds that the resulting column had risen above 8km into the atmosphere, with most of the material seemingly going out towards the sea.
