Met Office distances itself from WhatsApp message on heatwaves

The Met Service has distanced itself from a WhatsApp message it says is being circulated about heat waves, affecting T&T.

It insists that it has not issued any such statement and while some of the advice given can be adopted on a regular basis, most are for more extreme cases.

It says temperatures have been near 33 and 34 degrees Celsius which is slightly above average but not unusual.

Meanwhile, the Met Office says there is currently a mild concentration of Saharan dust in the atmosphere.

This it says will likely persist into June and though it is mild, the dust can still impact persons with respiratory problems.
