A repaired Hilltop Road in Maturita, Arima has been officially commissioned and the Works Minister is hoping that taxi drivers drop their price to take commuters to that destination.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony this morning, Minister Rohan Sinanan claimed that some taxi drivers would not be willing to go to the hill without a substantial fee.
He says the road, which was first visited by his team last year, was a disaster waiting to happen.
The new road, according to Mr Sinanan, comes after 21 years of residents lobbying for it to be repaired.
Information from the MP for the area, Anthony Garcia, is that the road serves as a major link for a village where at least five hundred residents live.
