Ministry claims three programs will improve access to state support

Three initiatives have been announced by the Social Development Ministry aimed at improving access to state support.

This is according to a media release from the ministry which notes that a Social Support and Empowerment Unit will be set up.

The SSE is expected to create a database which connects applicants to the required relief and support.

It says this body will also be a primary information source and central repository on existing social programmes and application processes.

Another program in the ministry’s pipeline is STEP-UP, which seeks to help families eventually graduate from State support.

The release says the ministry will also continue the digitization of its systems to improve access to programmes and services.
