Motorist disqualified from driving eight months after gaining licence

Just eight months after gaining his driver’s permit, a young driver has had his licence suspended for a year.

The TTPS says the driver was ticketed for the unauthorized use of the Priority Bus Route on Thursday morning.

According to new UTURN traffic enforcement system, the man had been previously ticketed a PBR violation and improper overtaking.

His latest infringement took him over the maximum threshold of seven demerit points for a newly licensed driver, meaning he is now disqualified from driving for a year.

In total, 23 tickets were issued for unauthorized use of the PBR on Thursday – this charge carries a penalty of $2000 and six demerit points.
