An MP is undertaking 10 days of planting trees in a bid to plant a total of 1,000 throughout various recreation grounds and parks.
St Augustine member Khadijah Ameen says her initiative is in keeping with movements concerning the protection and preservation of the environment.
She says by planting these trees, agricultural soil will be sustained and oxygen from the trees will purify the air.
Furthermore, this exercise is expected to help mitigate the effects of flooding.
This effort will be launched with the planting of 10 trees at the Helping Hands Recreational Grounds along Streatham Lodge Road Extension on Wednesday.
