MP suggests gas price reduction to help during COVID-19 pandemic

A temporary reduction in the cost of fuel is being suggested in light of coronavirus restrictions.

Mayaro MP Rushton Paray, in a media release, says Government should pass on the benefits of lower international prices, which has seen a drastic drop in the fuel subsidy.

He believes, with maxis and taxis operating at 50% capacity, lowering the price of gas would stabilize fares.

Mr Paray is also of the opinion that such an initiative would impact on the cost of delivery by food distributors.

This process, he says, would be fair to all motorists and would not be bogged down by red tape.
