Officer cleared of wild meat charges, prepares to sue the state

A 39 year old Police Officer with 19 years service has been cleared of wild meat charges in Tobago.

Keston Kirk had been on suspension for the last four years after being charged with the illegal possession of 17 iguanas.

According to his attorney Martin Joseph, the charges were dismissed by Magistrate Duane Murray, who ruled that the State had not proven its case against the Mr Kirk.

He now plans to prepare High Court proceedings to sue the State for Damages and Compensation for Malicious Prosecution.

Mr Kirk has always maintained his innocence, saying the iguanas were left in his car by someone he had given a drop to.
