One man dead after arms, ammo and drug bust in Arima


    Police have killed one man and arrested nine others during an arms, ammunition and drug bust in Arima.

    Yesterday, officers conducted a search warrant at Block 3-5, Wallerfield and found close to 19 kilogrammes of marijuana.

    Six persons were arrested including four illegal Venezuelan immigrants.

    Police then went to Balisier Road to execute another warrant and on arrival saw three men, one of whom was known to them.

    The men fired at the officers and ran causing police to return fire.

    Two men were captured by the officers a short while later and the third was seen suffering from gunshot wounds.

    He was taken to the Arima Health Facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

    Two assault rifles were recovered along with 166 rounds of assorted ammunition, along with 150 marijuana trees, a camouflage bulletproof vest, a ski-mask and a firearm sling.
