Phase 2 of Road Safety Project to begin soon

Phase 2 of a Road Safety Project for the Mt Hope and Success Laventille Secondary Schools as well as surrounding communities will soon get underway.

This update comes from Project Manager Nicholas Cumberbatch who explains that the plan was established in December 2017 after concerns were raised at a Mt Hope Village Council meeting with St Joseph police.

So far, he says numerous activities have taken place including road safety lectures, supervised use of pedestrian crosswalks, repairs of street lights and installation of school zone signs and hand railings.

Mr Cumberbatch says some of the work started in phase one, will be completed in the next phase.

Other activities will include a road safety quiz involving the two schools, production and launch of a video documentary and meetings with Mt Hope businesses to address street parking of large containers.
