The 2020 General Election will continue as scheduled because the COVID-19 situation is not out of control.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley explained this today, after being asked about the threshold for postponing the poll carded for August 10th.
His response follows calls from political figures and others, to postpone the Election.
Dr Rowley also does not expect the situation to escalate in the next few days leading up to the election.
As for concerns regarding activities at polling stations on election day, Dr Rowley says there are protocols in place to ensure the safety of persons.
He is however urging political parties to adhere to health regulations for the remainder of their campaigns.
