Policeman granted bail on charge of shooting with intent to murder


    A policeman has been granted $300,000 bail with a surety or $15,000 cash bail after appearing in court charged with shooting with intent to murder.

    PC Rajesh Ramdass appeared virtually before a magistrate today after being arrested earlier in the day.

    The charge stems from an incident on April 3rd 2016 in which a victim claims to have been arguing with the man over whose turn it was to access the services of a Debe establishment.

    The victim said he hit the man, an off-duty police officer, and the approached him with a bottle in his hand.

    The TTPS says the officer fired several shots, wounding the victim with a shot to the stomach.

    PC Ramdass is due to reappear in court on November 10th 2020.
