The MET Services Riverine Flood Alert will continue until 10am on Friday.
It says Trinidad’s major water courses have reached or exceeded threshold capacities.
There have been numerous reports of ongoing riverine flooding in several parts of the country, with flood waters currently rising in a few communities.
It adds that since no impactful rainfall is forecast overnight, flood waters are expected to gradually subside by mid-morning.
The TTMS’ forecast for Friday (July 30th) is:
“Mostly hot, sunny and hazy despite a few showery spells mainly during the afternoon. There is a low (30%) chance of afternoon showers becoming heavy and thundery in a few areas. Gusty winds, street and/or flash flooding can be expected in areas under heavy showers and thunderstorms.”
