Schools given “higher-level” numbers to call in cases of water woes

Chief Education Officer, Harrilal Seecharan made the announcement

A new measure has been put in place to give school principals more access to the authorities in the event of water shortages.

According to Chief Education Officer, Harrilal Seecharan, the current system allows schools to contact WASA directly to sort out any water problems.

However, he says Public Utilities Minister, Robert Le Hunte, has given principals more numbers, including his own, to help ensure they reach the authorities.

Meanwhile, both Minister Le Hunte and WASA CEO Alan Poon King say there have only been isolated incidents of schools closing due to lack of water.
