The Senate has begun debate on the bill to decriminalize marijuana.
The bill made it through the Lower House on Wednesday.
Kicking off the debate was attorney general Faris Al Rawi, who again presented the various aspects of the proposed legislation, including terms, restrictions and penalties.
Among those contributing this afternoon was UNC Senator Kadijah Ameen, who says while she supports the move to decriminalize, the bill and debate so far seem to be outdated.
According to her, it is heavily premised on the concept of marijuana as a substance to be smoked.
Senator Ameen also believes that sending the Bill before a Joint Select Committee first would have helped to iron out certain fine details.
