SGRC Chairman: Waist-high flooding reported in several areas; residents marooned

Parts of Sangre Grande and environs are already experiencing waist-high water, and Regional Corporation Chairman Terry Rondon says flood waters are continuing to rise.

In fact, he says the Disaster Management Unit is attempting to reach persons marooned in areas such as Marchark on the Foster Road, parts of Vega De Oropouche, Leemond, North Oropouche, Adventist Street and Blake Avenue.

Mr Rondon is not hopeful that flooding will improve by tomorrow, given that most rivers in the area have already burst its banks.
