The Social Development Ministry says a recent video at its San Fernando Regional Office gives the wrong impression of staff being absent during regular working hours.
It says an internal investigation confirmed the video was recorded within a secondary reception area of an office that handles specialized services including the issue of Life Certificates and the collection of cheques.
The investigation also found that the video was taken just after the officer assigned to the area, had left her desk to attend to an administrative matter for another client.
This, it adds, gave the perception that the office was void of staff.
According to the Ministry, at that point in time, the main lobby on the other side of the building was appropriately staffed.
The Ministry however considers this incident a “breach of office security” and says proper systems will be put in place to avoid any reoccurrence.
