Suspects escape in boat as police seize weed in Morne Diablo

Police are searching for four men who escaped in a pirogue after they were caught offloading drugs in Morne Diablo

Between 2am and 2:30pm yesterday, officers conducting surveillance along the beach observed four men disembarking from a vessel with four white crocus bags.

They entered a forested area near the shoreline, however as the officers moved in, the suspects returned to the pirogue and escaped.

A search of the area where the men were seen resulted in the discovery of four crocus bags, a shotgun and one 12 gauge cartridge under a piece of black canvas.

The bags each contained 25 packets of marijuana, weighing a total of 28.57 kilograms in marijuana and valued at $285,700.
