The San Fernando General Hospital has NOT reported confirmed cases of the Novel Coronovirus (2019-NCoV).
This follows a case in which a patient sought treatment at the hospital for respiratory ailments.
It says on Saturday February 8th, a patient went to the SFGH’s Emergency Department with respiratory symptoms, including fever & shortness of breath and was immediately attended to by health care professionals.
A decision was made to keep the patient isolated, in keeping with standard international protocol and best practice.
In its latest update, the SWRHA says all medical tests have concluded “the absence of the coronavirus or viruses that contribute to severe respiratory illnesses”.
It adds that the patient has been informed and is expected to be discharged in due course.
It also assures that all SWRHA facilities remain in place to deal with cases of severe acute respiratory illness.
