The THA’s Secretary of the Division of Education, Innovation and Energy says CSEC results in Tobago have improved, while CAPE results remain steady.
In a release it says the CSEC pass rate for students attaining five or more subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English moved from a pass rate of 36% in 2017, 42.3% in 2018, and 45.7% in 2019 to 54.7% in 2020.
The percentage of students acquiring no passes declined drastically from 10.7% in 2017, 6.7% in 2019, to 3.6% in 2020.
Improvements were also seen in twenty two (22) subject areas while passing grades (Grades I, II & III) were obtained in 69.7% of the subject entries an increase from 66.7% achieved in 2019.
It adds that CAPE results remained steady at a 92% pass rate for Unit 1 and 93.3% at Unit II in 2020.
It adds however that there was a sharp increase in the number of students achieving Grades I and II from 517 in 2019 to 646 in 2020 while only 25 more students wrote the exam this year.
