Three policemen, including an acting Sergeant, are now in court for allegedly falsely imprisoning and robbing a 51 year old businessman on June 6th.
The victim was approached by three men with a firearm at the location where he made arrangements to purchase a vehicle from another man.
The trio demanded 50 thousand dollars from him, and kept him against his will, forcing him to make phone calls to request money to secure his release.
The suspects were able to obtain 35 thousand dollars, before releasing him.
Officers of the Professional Standards Bureau investigated, leading to the arrests of the three officers.
PSB officers also discovered three firearms, one air pistol, 70 rounds of ammunition, 28 packages of marijuana, a quantity of cocaine and a quantity of cash, hidden in the ceiling of the Chaguanas Police Station.
Enquiries are still ongoing into the discovery of the items.
