Top Cop advises: keep medical documents on hand for mask exemption

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is advising persons to keep medical documents or a doctor’s note with them, in cases where they are unable to wear a mask due to certain conditions.

Under new legislation, persons must wear a mask when in public, however exemptions are made for those with a “reasonable excuse”.

This can include medical conditions, which the Top Cop says may be difficult to determine offhand.

The Top Cop also assured that officers will not be “looking for 9 and 10 year old children to give them a ticket.”

He made that comment as he addressed the matter of tickets for homeless persons who are caught without a mask.

The TTPS says it will hand out over 500 masks to homeless persons over the next few days.
