Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has begun disciplinary action against ACP Irwin Hackshaw, by serving him a warning notice.
According to the Top Cop, this is the first step in the disciplinary process as outlined in the Police Service Regulations given the allegations made against him.
He adds however that he will encounter complicated issues, since Mr Hackshaw is the most senior police officer and there are no substantive Deputy Commissioners to sit on a tribunal in judgment of him.
He hopes however that by the time the matter may require the convening of the tribunal that the substantive DCPs would have been selected.
Last week the Police Complaints Authority recommended disciplinary action after evidence supported allegations that Mr Hackshaw accepted paid employment or undertook private work without approval.
