Tropical Depression Nine forms in the Caribbean Sea

The tropical disturbance that recently passed T&T is now Tropical Depression Nine.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, slow intensification of this system is forecast over the next day or so, followed by more significant intensification over the weekend and early next week.

While there are no Watches or Warnings in place at this time, TD Nine is expected to produce rainfall in a number of areas from now and in the coming days.

The NHC adds that swells generated by this system will begin affecting Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Cuba over the next several days.

It warns that these swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
