T&T’s drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve renewable energy usage is about to receive a helping hand.
According to the Planning Ministry, the country will sign and ratify the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
It says participating in the ISA affords T&T the prospect of generating solar policy frameworks while offering a platform to learn best practices from other member countries.
The Ministry believes this move makes it possible to diversify the economy through solar technology, creation of green jobs, development of programmes and projects and leveraging access to funding.
T&T’s is seeking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2031 and to achieve 10% renewable energy by 2021 under the UN’s Paris Agreement.
