TTPS enlists the army to tackle crime in Northern Division

The TTPS has enlisted the help of the army to tackle violent crime in certain parts of the Northern Division.

Senior Superintendent Curtis Paul today admitted that murders continue to pose the greatest challenge, with 49 homicides in the Division so far for 2019.

In this regard, he says they have since obtained the support of the Defence Force to institute ‘Joint Patrols’ in areas such as Carapo, La Horquetta, Malabar, Pinto and Calvary Hill.

He says an urban policing approach has also been adopted to deal with criminal activities in areas such as the Maloney Housing Development, which consists of 21 apartment buildings, each with 64 apartments.

Mr Paul also outlined breakthroughs in firearm offences and other crimes.

Mr Paul was speaking during the weekly police briefing.
