There may not be enough young teaching candidates to replace the large percentage set to retire across the world in the coming decade.
This is the concern being raised by TTUTA President Lynsley Doodhai, ahead of tomorrow’s commemoration of World Teachers’ Day.
Overall, he says over sixty-nine million teachers must be recruited by 2030 to ensure quality education for all.
This year, the theme chosen for celebrations is “Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession.”
Mr Doodhai hopes the event it will also allow for some of the pertinent issues critical in the profession to be addressed.
