UNC and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling on the Government to put a wage subsidy in place.
Speaking during a virtual political meeting last evening, she pointed to the economic impact of COVID-19, especially on small and medium businesses.
A wage subsidy, she adds, would help them maintain jobs, thus reducing unemployment.
A number of countries across the world have introduced wage subsidies as a way to supporting businesses and their workers during the current pandemic.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar also called on the Government to provide laptops to students, since these are now crucial to their education.
She also kept with her call for the Property Tax to be scrapped.
