UNC municipal corporations call for funding


    Representatives of several municipal corporations held by the UNC say they are starved for funding, and warned this could cripple their operations during the rainy season.

    They also claim neglect, stating that funds for basic projects such as installing box drains, clearing waterways and fixing potholes, are not being released.

    Senator Khadijah Ameen says important equipment are inoperable at the moment, since repairs require funding.

    Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan says a shortfall in the payment to his Borough by 16.1 million dollars is also affecting garbage collection services.
